Barcelona, (EFE).- The socialist Jaume Collboni has been elected this Saturday as the new mayor of Barcelona, thanks to the in extremis support of the commons and the PP, which have thus prevented the Junts candidate, Xavier Trias, from taking over the command despite having been the most voted in the 28M elections and despite the endorsement of ERC.
In a Saló de Cent of the Barcelona City Council full of Catalan political leaders -such as Oriol Junqueras, Laura Borràs, Jordi Turull or Artur Mas-, the constitutive session of the new Barcelona consistory was held, marked by a script twist at the last moment , since the commons have announced an hour before that they would support Collboni and would try to leave Xavier Trias, from Junts, the candidate with the most votes on 28M, in opposition.
At 5:20 p.m., twenty minutes late, the senior committee headed by the PSC-Units councilor Albert Batlle opened a session of maximum tension and intrigue, since at that time it was not yet known what the four would do PP councilors, keys for Collboni to be elected mayor -along with the votes of the socialists and the commons- and thus unseat Trias at the last minute.
Collboni has obtained, in a secret ballot, 23 votes, compared to 16 for Trias and two for the Vox candidate, Gonzalo de Oro-Pulido.
