Madrid (EFE) But it has not been possible.
“We have tried to get them to rectify, unfortunately it has not been possible,” Belarra announced in his speech at the party’s State Citizen Council, where he insisted that the veto is “an error that they firmly reject.”
He has also had words for Irene Montero, to whom Podemos, he has assured, will never let go of her hand.
“You are not only part of the present of Podemos, you are an indispensable part of our future and also of the future of feminism,” she remarked.
Belarra has affirmed that Podemos has decided to sign the joint candidacy with Sumar because it is the only possibility of revalidating the coalition government and has remarked that once again the actions of his party are characterized by putting the collective interest of the country ahead of his own .
“You have to know how to lose and no government party always wins, remember,” he said in a message to Podemos militants.
A “modest” role in the campaign
Regarding the role of the purple formation in Sumar’s campaign, he has said that it will be secondary.
“From this moment on, Podemos assumes its role in this candidacy, a “modest” role: “We are not going to mark the campaign strategy this time, our job must be, and we will do so, to stand behind Yolanda Díaz and be there where we are asked”, he explained.
The objective, Belarra has insisted, is “to revalidate the coalition government, stop the right, avoid the return of an imperfect bipartisanship and continue promoting the social and feminist transformations that this country continues to need so much.”
Despite this role, he has told the militants and the entire party that the work ahead “is immense” and has asked them not to give up, while recalling the first moments of the formation to ensure that the times and the present conditions are not more difficult than those.
“You can count on Irene and me”, he proclaimed after assuring that accepting that this was not on the lists has been one of the most difficult decisions that Podemos has had to make because it is a benchmark for the party, at the head of which he has demonstrated “uncommon courage and intelligence”.
Montero says it is an “unfair” veto
The explanation of what happened in the 28M elections has been framed in that the party is going against the current, in the midst of a “reactionary tsunami” and after having been victims of political, economic and media power “with hours of hoaxes in prime time ”.
For her part, Irene Montero has assured that Podemos could not have a better general secretary.
“It is an honor to be part of your team”, he indicated, in addition to describing the decision that Podemos has made in recent weeks as “very difficult” and calling the veto that Yolanda Díaz has decided to maintain “unfair”.
