Madrid (EFE) if no formation reaches an absolute majority.
Many of the places are at the expense of an agreement between PP and Vox, which could govern up to 135 municipalities and have signed agreements in more than twelve towns, including Burgos, Elche (Alicante), Molina de Segura (Murcia) or Calvià. (Balearic Islands), in addition to the Valencian Community.
There have also been agreements between other formations, such as in Bilbao and San Sebastián, where the PNV will govern again thanks to the support of the PSE; in A Coruña, with the pact between the PSOE and the BNG, or in Las Palmas, where the Socialists have managed to form a government thanks to the support of Nueva Canarias and Podemos.
These are the main cities and municipalities in which agreements have not yet been reached:
Barcelona
In Barcelona, only a last-minute turnaround could remove Xavier Trias (Junts) from the mayor’s office, who, having managed to be the list with the most votes, hopes to become mayor with 11 councilors out of a total of 41.
Meanwhile, the socialist Jaume Collboni, with ten councilors, seeks to configure an alternative majority with the commons and with a third group -ERC or PP-, but the negotiations have not been fruitful so far.
Palma de Mallorca
The governance of Palma is still up in the air, since the PP has 11 of the 29 councilors and will need the support of Vox, with six councillors, to achieve a stable majority.
Valladolid and Leon
In Valladolid, secrecy reigns in the negotiations between Vox and the PP, and in León, the City Council will not be constituted until July 7 due to the appeal presented by Vox against the decision of the Zone Electoral Board to declare all the ballots of this party in which there were 25 names instead of 27.
Jaen
Jaén is the only Andalusian provincial capital that is still up in the air, since with the tie at 11 councilors between the PSOE and the PP, the provincialist party Jaén Deserves More has the key with its three councilors, since the two from Vox they would not be enough to tip the balance.
Toledo and La Guardia
In the Toledo municipality of La Guardia, PP and Podemos have announced that they will unite against the PSOE – the list with the most votes – to unseat the current mayor.
The Socialists have branded the pact as “against nature” and sources of the purple formation have affirmed that they will expel their three councilors if they sign with the popular ones.
Meanwhile, in Toledo and Guadalajara, PP and Vox are still trying to reach an agreement.
Vitoria
Although EH Bildu won the elections in Vitoria and the PNV-PSE pact does not add up enough, the Socialist candidate will probably be mayor, since the PP has announced that it will give her their votes “for free” to avoid governments of the nationalist party.
caceres
In Cáceres, the PP can access the Mayor’s Office if Vox abstains or supports it, although both parties have only held a working meeting.
However, the popular do not rule out governing in a minority and maintaining agreements with Vox during the legislature.
Albacete
In Albacete, the PSOE has stated that it could abstain in the second round so that the PP candidate is sworn in without the need for Vox.
Cartagena and Lorca
In Cartagena there have been contacts between Vox and the PP, which managed to obtain the highest number of votes, while in Lorca, although the popular ones also need those of Abascal, there have been no contacts.
Pamplona
In the Pamplona City Council, the Socialists will decide the Mayor’s Office, since there is a tie at 11 councilors between UPN (9) with the PP (2) and EH Bildu (8) with Geroa Bai (2) and Contigo Zurekin (1).
But beyond the public appeals, there are no known negotiations, although the PSN has assured that it will vote for itself and, if so, the Mayor’s Office would fall to UPN, the list with the most votes.
Girona
In Girona, the negotiations are tense after Guanyem and Junts have differed on the status of their talks and the PSC has made a public appeal in favor of an agreement between the left.
Leganés, Pinto and Alcorcón
The municipalities with a more uncertain outlook in the Community of Madrid are Leganés and Pinto, where two municipal parties (Unión por Leganés and Pinto Avanza) have it in their power to give an absolute majority to the block on the right or the block on the left.
In Leganés, the independent party has assured that it will not support either the PP or the PSOE and, in Pinto, they propose that the popular and socialist parties share out the Mayor’s office for two years each, with the municipal party as “moderator”.
In Alcorcón, negotiations are still open between the PSOE and Ganar Alcorcón and Más Madrid, which, if they reach an agreement, would leave out the PP, the most voted list. already
