Teruel (EFE).- “In an hour we have gone from sitting to having no home.” This is how Javier Carbó explains the speed with which the five-story building where he lived in Teruel with twenty other families collapsed on Tuesday and who today have saved their lives by sensing the misfortune, notifying each other and practically evacuating the building before the fire brigade and security forces arrived.
“We have left because we have noticed,” Carbó told the media following the collapse of this building at number 21 Calle San Francisco, in the center of Teruel and built in the 1960s, which has collapsed in recent at 11 in the morning, leaving the neighbors “with their clothes on”.
Although at the moment the causes of the collapse are unknown, Carbó and three other neighbors spent until 11:00 p.m. last night trying to reduce the water that “came out of the wall” in the garage to gain access to their vehicles. And it is that yesterday in Teruel it rained a lot, more than 29 liters per square meter that have added to the rainfall that has not stopped falling all week.
