Madrid (EFE).- BBVA Research has raised its economic growth forecast for this year to 2.4%, eight tenths more than in its March estimate, due to a better-than-expected first quarter of the year and the evolution of exports, and despite the fact that domestic demand “disappointed”.
This was explained by the director of BBVA Research and chief economist of the BBVA Group, Jorge Sicilia, during the presentation of the new edition of the report “Situación España”, who recognized that “private consumption could pick up” due to the ” good performance of employment” and the fall in fuel and food prices.
With respect to 2024, the forecast growth is revised downwards, to 2.1%, compared to the 2.6% forecast in March, a situation in line with the international environment.
