Seville, (EFE).- The tourism industry generated 22,553 million in Andalusia in 2022, of which 15,200 were directly and the remaining more than 7,350 million indirectly, in sectors such as agriculture, real estate or energy.
The statistical report of the Ministry of Tourism, which the Governing Council of the Junta has analyzed on Monday, draws “a very positive situation” in the sector. In which, for every euro consumed by tourist demand, 1.48 euros are produced. Therefore, it “multiplies”, as reported at a press conference by the spokesman for the Executive, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco.
He recalled that in 2022 there were “very good” data, with 30.8 million tourists in Andalusia. And the Board is convinced that this year they will be better, “pulverizing all records.”
The greater tourist flow contributed to a greater demand for goods and services than in 2021. Therefore, the community raised production levels, reaching 22,553 million.
All sectors analyzed
The Andalusian economy produced goods and services for a total value of 15,202 million euros to satisfy tourist needs. To which are added the indirect effects, identified with the volume of activity generated by the Andalusian economy. Necessary to satisfy the demand of tourism itself.
For example, the offer of a hotel space to the tourist population implies, among other aspects, an electricity supply contract. Which implies that the company that provides this service must increase the production of electricity to supply the mentioned hotel establishment.
To obtain these calculations, from the data of the Andalusian Tourism Analysis and Statistics System (SAETA), the agriculture, forestry products and fishing sectors have been taken into account. Extractives, electricity, water and gas. Intermediate goods industry; Alimentation and drinks. Textile, clothing, leather and footwear; manufactures. In addition to commerce, hotels, real estate activities, restaurants, transportation, car rental, recreational and cultural activities, and other services.
Impact of the war in Ukraine
The tourist impact in Andalusia continues to be marked by the effects of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, which has affected the supply of energy and the rise in prices, which has conditioned the costs of production processes.
Tourist income has been estimated at 16,897 million euros, which implies in real terms an increase of 40.6% compared to 2021.
This behavior is based on aspects such as the influence of foreign tourism, which grows at +138.4% and, to a lesser extent, tourism from Spain that does so at 32.2%, to which is added the rise of 4 euros in spending average daily.
Employment in the tourism sector maintains the upward trend and closed 2022 with an average of 408,300 employed in tourism activities, which is 14.8% more than in the previous year and 3.8 points below the levels prior to the pandemic. EFE
