According to the PP, the document that Miguel Ángel Revilla’s party has sent it is a complete government program, which it will not accept because it already has its own. In addition, he believes that it limits his ability to dialogue with other political formations.
The popular will propose to the regionalists a new working document “to return to the starting point.” What they want to negotiate is “a punctual investiture agreement and not a legislature pact.”
This is how the PP expressed it in the statement that it made public on Friday, after analyzing the document that the PRC approved in its Executive on Thursday night, whose first premise is to leave Vox out of the institutions.
“It exceeds the scope of the proposal transferred to the president (María José Sáenz de Buruaga) by the general secretary of the PRC, Miguel Ángel Revilla,” he points out. https://efe.com/cantabria/2023-06-01/buruaga- revilla-government-cantabria/
a government program
“What was discussed was a specific investiture agreement and what has been sent is a complete government program that, as the winner of the elections, the Popular Party is not going to accept, since it has its own which, in addition , is the one that the citizens have voted for”, he maintains.
The PP remembers that the Cantabrians have transferred “with total clarity in the elections of May 28 that they want a change of politicians and policies.” And he points out that this is incompatible with “transferring to the regional government the government program of the Regionalist Party”. https://efe.com/cantabria/2023-05-29/el-pp-gana-en-cantabria/
“The Popular Party is not going to accept, in any case, that its ability to dialogue with the rest of the political formations that obtained parliamentary representation in the last elections is limited and, where appropriate, to reach specific agreements,” concludes the release.
According to the regionalists, the draft that he sent to the PP covers “all areas of the Government of Cantabria and all powers”, those held by the PRC and those of its partner, the PSOE. https://efe.com/cantabria/ 2023-06-08/the-prc-will-not-concur-to-the-general-elections-of-23j/
Vox, a red line
After the rejection of his proposal, the PRC has warned the PP that Vox “is an impassable red line” to close an investiture agreement. And he has asked him to clarify if he is already in negotiations with the Abascal formation or if he intends to open them.
He also asks him to assume that his willingness to favor the investiture of Buruaga “is not a blank check and requires guarantees to ensure that the extreme right does not access government work in the autonomous community.”
“As the winner of the elections, the PP has the right to speak and reach agreements with whoever they want,” he says. “But it must be clear that the generosity that we regionalists have shown by reaching out from the beginning to promote the investiture implies keeping Vox out of the Government, to avoid any recession in the evolution of the autonomous community and in the rights of the Cantabrians”, he emphasizes.
He also points out that the document that he sent to the PP is “an agreement of maximums” and its contents are open to negotiation, “except with regard to Vox and its possible access to the Government at the hands of the PP,” he insists.
