Moscow/Kiev (EFE) .- The Russian Ministry of Defense has assured that its troops have repelled a major offensive by the Ukrainian Army in five sectors of the Donetsk front in eastern Ukraine in the last few hours.
“On the morning of June 4, the enemy launched a large-scale offensive in five sectors of the southern Donetsk front,” Defense said in a statement posted on Telegram.
According to that official note, six mechanized battalions and two tank battalions participated in the assault.
“The enemy’s objective was to break through our defensive lines in the most vulnerable part of the front, according to his judgment,”
Defense assures that the Ukrainian forces “did not achieve their purpose” and lost in the attempt more than 250 men and 16 tanks, in addition to other armored vehicles.

Ukraine confirms airstrikes against Russian troops
For its part, and awaiting the counteroffensive announced by Kiev, the Ukrainian army has confirmed that it launched 15 air strikes on concentrations of Russian troops in territories occupied by Moscow in the last 24 hours.
According to the military report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, “during the day of June 4, the Ukrainian Air Force launched 15 air strikes on enemy concentrations.”
Specifically, the report details that the Ukrainian forces reached with missiles and artillery three command posts, two concentrations of weapons and military equipment, four ammunition depots, two anti-aircraft missile systems and four Russian electronic control stations.
The General Staff also refers to the interception of six Russian reconnaissance drones.
Ukraine is working to hit Russian supply lines and logistics before launching its much-anticipated ground counter-offensive to retake more Russian-occupied territories.

A Chechen unit
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has also reported that its troops “repelled all enemy attacks near the town of Marinka”, the city in the occupied Donetsk region that has become a new target of Russian forces in the East.
“Ukrainian defenders repelled all enemy attacks near the town of Marínka. At the same time, the enemy launched an air attack on the city”, says the Ukrainian side on Monday, which also speaks of Russian artillery attacks against Márinka itself and two other municipalities in the area.
As confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Chechen special unit “Ajmat” is actively participating in the fighting for the capture of Márinka and Avdíivka.
The Chechens would be exercising the role of assault troops that the mercenaries of the Wagner group played in Bakhmut.
After having declared the complete seizure of Bakhmut, Russia is now trying to gain control of Márinka and Avdíivka, two towns on the outskirts of Donetsk, which is the capital of the homonymous region in eastern Ukraine and is occupied by the Russians.
