Unemployment descended in Extremadura in 2.147 personas in May compared to the previous month, 2.67 percent, especially in the service sector with 1,451 fewer unemployed, which placed the total number of unemployed at 78,377.
In a year-on-year comparison, compared to May 2022, unemployment fell by 7,785 people, 9.04 percent, according to data published this Friday by the Ministry of Labor.
Regarding the provinces of Extremadura, unemployment fell in Badajoz in 1,093 people compared to April, 2.06% less, which amounts to 78,377 the number of unemployed, while in Cáceres it did so in 1,054 peoplea percentage of 3.82% that places the total number of unemployed at 26,526 people.

By sectors, unemployment fell in all of them, especially in services (-1,451) and agriculture (-308), followed by construction (-208), industry (-141) and the group without previous employment (-39).
As for contracts, 40,017 were signed in May, 9,870 more than in April (32.74%) and 9,867 less in the interannual rate (-19.78%). Of these, 27,377 were temporary and 12,640 permanent.

The Acting General Secretary for Employment, Javier Luna, highlighted the “positive trend” which is experiencing unemployment and Social Security affiliation, with the rise in May of 6,218 employed people and 413,302 contributors.
