Oviedo (EFE).- Last year there were 713 women in Asturias with some precautionary measure or protection order for the mistreatment inflicted on them by their partners or ex-partners, which represents an increase of 33.3 percent compared to 2021 , according to data published this Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
This count includes all acts of physical or psychological violence, including attacks on sexual freedom, threats, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, that have been inflicted against a woman by the man who is or has been your partner or ex-partner.
Despite this strong increase, the rate of women victims of sexist violence in the Principality was 1.5 per thousand women aged 14 and over, the same as in the country as a whole, where the number of victims increased by 8, 3 percent, up to 32,644.
Of the 713 victims recorded in the Principality, 20 were minors, 17 more than in 2021, according to the INE, which notes a general increase in all age groups.
Thus, another 71 victims were between 18 and 24 years old, 10 more than the previous year; 413, from 25 to 44 years old, 88 more; 181, from 45 to 64 years, 58 more, and 28, 65 and more years, 5 more.
Last year there were 723 denounced for sexist violence in the Principality, 189 more than in 2021, which implies an increase of 35.4 percent, and 894 men were also sentenced, 128 more than the previous year, 16.7 percent. hundred more.
Domestic violence down
Regarding domestic violence -which can be carried out by both men and women against family members, with the exception of their partner or ex-partner-, in Asturias there were 187 victims with a protection order or precautionary measures, 32 less than in 2021, which which represents a decrease of 14.6 percent.
Of that total, 107 victims were women, 20.1 percent fewer, and 80 were men, 5.9 percent fewer.
70 of these victims were minors, 21 fewer than in the previous year; 18 were between 18 and 24 years old, 5 more; 23, from 25 to 44 years old, 5 less; 39, from 45 to 64 years, 11 less, and 37, 65 and over, the same as in the previous year.
In Spain, sexist violence also rises and domestic violence decreases
In the country as a whole, victims of sexist violence increased by 8.3 percent in 2022 compared to the previous year, up to 32,644 women -1,376 of them minors- with some precautionary measure or protection order for the mistreatment inflicted on them by their partners or ex-partners.
The highest rates of cases of gender violence per 1,000 women over 13 years of age were registered in Melilla (3.7), La Rioja (2.6) and the Balearic Islands (2.3), while at the other extreme they placed the Basque Country (0.8), Catalonia (0.8) and Madrid (1)
Regarding domestic violence, last year there were 8,151 victims in Spain -1,800 minors, 1.1 percent less than in 2021, of which 60.7 percent were women and 39.3 percent men. EFE
