Vitoria (EFE).- The Ertzaintza is looking for the ex-partner of the pregnant woman who has been found dead with signs of violence in an apartment hotel in Vitoria together with her daughter. The girl, about 3 years old, was in good health but has been taken to a hospital for a full examination.
The 32-year-old woman is from Vitoria and apparently was pregnant, sources from the investigation have informed EFE, adding that everything points to the fact that the attacker is the woman’s ex-partner.
Although the Basque Department of Security has not yet revealed whether the attacker had a sentimental relationship with his victim, the Ertzaintza has confirmed that it is a sexist crime.
The aparthotel, from the Líbere group, is intended for short stays and is located at number 45 Avenida de Gasteiz, a central street in the capital of Alava.
The scientific police have come to the place where the body of this young woman has been found, a room in the apartment hotel. Next to the victim was her daughter, a girl between two and three years old. The little girl was in good health but she has been taken to a hospital for a full check-up.
The Ertzaintza is looking for the ex-partner
The Ertzaintza is looking for the ex-partner of the dead young woman and tries to find him not only in Vitoria and Euskadi, but in other autonomous communities where he could have fled after the murder.
This macho crime has already led to the condemnation of the mayor of Vitoria, Gorka Urtaran, on this election day, who has shown his solidarity and support for the family and friends of the victim, and has proposed to the municipal spokesmen to call a rally tomorrow of repulse in the Plaza de España in the city.
The candidates for mayor of Vitoria from the five main Basque parties have shown their rejection and condemnation of this murder through their social networks.
The Government delegate in the Basque Country, Denis Itxaso, has also spoken through social networks, who has repudiated the murder and has considered that sexist violence is an “everyday horror”.
Second sexist crime in Euskadi this year
Various Basque political leaders, who are preparing to continue on election night, have been shocked by this crime, which they have condemned and expressed their solidarity with the victim’s family.
That of this young woman is the second sexist murder of the year in the Basque Country. The first was that of Lourdes, whom her ex-partner murdered on May 16 in Orio by shooting her with a shotgun with which she later committed suicide.
In Euskadi there is a 24-hour telephone service for women victims of gender violence: 900 840 111. You can also call 112 for emergency attention at any time
