Santa Cruz de Tenerife (EFE).- Participation in the local and regional elections in the Canary Islands stood at 41.83% (675,645 people) until 5:00 p.m., which is 3.69 percentage points more in relation to to the same data from the elections held in May 2019.
As reported by the Minister of Public Administrations, Justice and Security, Julio Pérez, in the second advance of data related to participation during this electoral day, “a little more participation is being registered in the archipelago, which is always welcome”. with barely an hour to go before the polling stations close.
By provinces, in Las Palmas the participation registered until 5:00 p.m. is 39.78%, which represents 1.86 points more than at the same time of the 2019 elections.
In the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, participation has reached 44.06%, which is equivalent to an increase of 5.71 points compared to the local and regional elections four years ago.
By islands, the increase in participation in La Gomera is striking, which, with 47.70% of voters until 5:00 p.m., registers an increase of 16.80 points.
Also La Palma, with a 50.39% participation, contemplates an increase of said percentage of 14.43 points compared to 2019.
In El Hierro, participation up to 5:00 p.m. was 44.51%, 9.66 points more.
In Tenerife the participation is 43.38%, 4.43 points of increase compared to the same time of the 2019 elections.
In Fuerteventura the participation is 37.95%, with 0.89 points of increase; in Gran Canaria of 40.63%, which is equivalent to an increase of 2.10 points and in Lanzarote it stands at 35.40%, that is, 1.21 points more than at 5:00 p.m. May 2019.
