The PP has swept the municipal elections held this Sunday, by imposing itself not only in number of councilors and votes throughout the country, but after consolidating its majority in cities where it already governed and snatching others from the left, such as Valencia or Seville.
In fact, the PP has been the party with the most votes in seven of the ten large Spanish cities: in addition to Madrid, Valencia, Seville, the popular ones have won in Zaragoza, Malaga, Murcia and Palma.
According to data provided by the Ministry of the Interior, the PSOE has only remained in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and has ceased to be the force with the most votes in Seville, Zaragoza and Palma.
In Barcelona, Junts has prevailed in the municipal elections in the Catalan capital and in Bilbao the PNV has been, as in 2019, the party with the most votes.
The PP also wins in the provincial capitals
The Popular Party has been the party with the most votes in 28 of the 50 provincial capitals in the municipal elections held this Sunday, 17 more than in 2019 and half of them by absolute majority.
For its part, the PSOE has been the force with the most votes in 14 capitals, eight fewer than four years ago, according to data published by the Ministry of the Interior.
Madrid
The PP wins the elections to the Madrid City Council with an absolute majority by obtaining 29 councilors.
More Madrid has been the second force with the most votes, with 12 councilors, since the PSOE has not managed to lead the left, while Ciudadanos and Podemos have been left out of the consistory.
Barcelona
In Barcelona, Junts has obtained 11 councilors in the capital of Catalonia, one more than the PSC, which has kept ten.
Xavier Trias (Junts) has overtaken Jaume Collboni (PSC) with more than 7,000 votes in these elections, in which BComú de Ada Colau has placed third, with nine councilors.
Behind these three forces has been ERC, with five; the PP, with four and Vox, which enters the Barcelona consistory, with two representatives.
Valencia
The left has lost the third city in Spain, where the block on the right adds up to 17 councilors who represent the absolute majority, one more than the left.
Sevilla
In Seville, the PSOE has lost its great urban stronghold, where the PP has obtained 14 councilors -six more than in 2019- compared to the 12 Socialists, who have lost one representative.
The rest of the representatives of the Sevillian consistory will be divided into three for Vox and two for the Con Andalucía coalition, while Adelante Andalucía and Ciudadanos have not obtained any councilor.
Zaragoza
In Zaragoza, the party with the most votes has been the PP, which has achieved 15 councilors -seven more than in 2019-, followed by the PSOE, which has retained its ten representatives.
Vox has added two more councilors and has obtained four, while Zaragoza en Común has achieved two.
Málaga
In Malaga, the PP has won with an absolute majority, by obtaining 17 of the 31 councilors of the consistory, while the PSOE has obtained 10 and Vox has entered with two mayors.
The popular have obtained three more representatives than in 2019; the PSOE has lost two, and the confluence of the left With Andalusia has achieved two councilors.
Murcia
In Murcia, the PP has won the elections with 15 councilors, four more than in the 2019 elections, while the PSOE has won eight (one less) and Vox has won six (three more).
The popular ones have achieved the absolute majority that they lost in 2019 and that forced them to ally with Ciudadanos, who had four and now has disappeared.
Palma
The PP has obtained 10 councilors in Palma, four more than it had, and has ousted the PSOE as the force with the most votes, which has obtained eight councilors, one less than in 2019.
Vox has gone from four to seven representatives in the consistory of the Balearic capital, Més remains at three councilors and Unidas Podemos has obtained one.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has been the only large city that the PSOE has retained, since they have managed to remain the force with the most votes, with 12 councillors, compared to nine for the PP and four for Vox.
Bilbao
In Bilbao, the PNV, with 12 councillors, has been the party with the most votes, followed by EH Bildu, which has risen to second position with six councillors, two more than in the previous term.
The PSE-EE has achieved five councilors; the PP, four -one more than in 2019-, and Elkarrein Podemos has obtained two.
The PP has obtained 13 councilors -compared to the 8 it obtained in 2019- and Vox, four -two more than in the previous term-, while Compromís has obtained nine representatives and the PSOE, seven.
