Camargo (EFE).- The Camargo City Council will celebrate its 42nd Summer Festival between August 4 and 28, which includes musical and dance shows and whose “highlight” will be the inauguration by the singer and composer Diana Navarro.
The Vice President and Minister of Culture of the Government of Cantabria, Pablo Zuloaga, the Mayor of Camargo, Esther Bolado, and the Councilor for Culture, José Salmón, have presented the festival poster at a press conference, where they have highlighted the variety and quality offered by the program.
Bolado has indicated that the program seeks to continue supporting the culture sector, whose activity has gone through “complicated” times due to the coronavirus and that, now that the situation is different, it is a “wink” to artists and all people and workers who make it possible for culture to “move”.
The Camargo Summer Festival, which has an investment of just over 60,000 euros, will begin on August 4 with a performance by the artist Diana Navarro who will bring traditional Spanish music to the people of Camargue, fusing Copla, Saeta, Flamenco and Zarzuela, with styles as diverse as Symphonic Pop or Electronics.
It will be followed on August 5 by the original musical of the film “Coco”, entitled “Remember me, Coco the musical!”, by the Pekebaila Kids company, where the little ones can enjoy the songs from the films, as well as choreographies and voices of all the performers live.
Tribute to Sabina, classical music, soul, theater or dance
On August 11th it will be the turn for dance, acrobatics and piano music with Zen del Sur who presents “Órbita”, a work full of strength and sensitivity in which an oniric journey is proposed to the viewer, a metaphor of transit by the aspirations under the constant attraction of the roots that leads to the origin.
The music will return the following day to the Camargo Summer Festival, August 12, with “Sabina en las venas” by 500 noches banda, the best tribute show to Joaquín Sabina.
There will also be an original classical music concert, “Mundo Costrini: The Crazy Mozart”, inspired by silent movies and cartoons, the public will be complicit in this symphony of gags, absurd situations, and high-level circus numbers that will be the 18 of August.
On August 19, the visual theater show “Addaura Teatre Visual Mobilus” will take place, a show for all audiences with magic, dance, puppets, shadows, black light and circus, inspired by the work of the artist Alexander Calder.
Singer Gisele Jackson will arrive on August 25 to bring her African-American music focused on classic soul.
And it will close this 42nd edition of the Summer Festival “Yllana: Passport”, a comical adventure of a theater company on its world tours.
All the performances, which are free, will take place at 9:30 p.m. in the gardens of the Camargo City Council, which, like last year, will maintain additional bleachers so that more public can access.
This year it will not be necessary to book tickets, since the Camargo Summer Festival is free until full capacity is reached.
