Madrid, May 11 (EFE).- The Community of Madrid has advanced to this Saturday, May 13, the opening of its four summer swimming pools, within the Action Plan for Episodes of High Temperatures, and maintains access rates with the same prices, which have not risen since 2018.
In this way, Madrid residents and visitors will be able to enjoy “almost a month more than last year of the swimming pool season”, which is scheduled to close on September 9, the deputy director general of Sports Facilities, Ricardo Echeita, indicated on Thursday. in the pool of the Puerta de Hierro Sports Center.
Specifically, the swimming pools of the Community of Madrid are those of the Canal de Isabel II, San Vicente de Paul, Puerta de Hierro Sports Park and World Swimming Center 86 (M-86).
The opening hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., from Monday to Sunday, and it has been simplified to obtain the access codes to the swimming pools through the internet, in addition to launching a free application for mobile phones.
With the early opening, citizens are offered not only a leisure and sports alternative for almost four months, but also an option to face the high temperatures that are expected this spring and during the summer.
RATES AND PRICES
Prices remain at five euros per session, to which a 30% reduction will be applied to those over 65 years of age, to children between 3 and 13 years of age and to members of large families.
Admission will be free for people who prove a recognized degree of disability equal to or greater than 33% and companions whose assistance they have to rely on, as well as for children under 3 years of age and victims of terrorism.
Holders of the Community of Madrid Youth Card will enter the swimming pools of San Vicente Paul, Puerta de Hierro Sports Park and Canal de Isabel II free of charge.
In the M-86 pool, the discount on the entrance price is 20%, as this sports center is managed by the Madrid Swimming Federation.
The total capacity of the pools is more than 4,700 people, of which 3,572 correspond to the Puerta de Hierro Sports Park, 214 to the San Vicente Paul pool, 567 to the Canal de Isabel II pool and 351 people to the M86.
TICKETS AND ACCESS
Special emphasis has been placed on making it easier and simpler to obtain pool access codes. In general, they can be purchased by registering online at the Community of Madrid registration portal for sports activities and reservations.
In addition, the new DEPORTESCM mobile phone app has been launched –which will be activated on the 13th- created by the Community of Madrid with the same objective and functionality as the Portal and can be purchased free of charge.
As an inclusive measure and to fight against the digital divide that the elderly and people with intellectual disabilities may suffer, 10% of the number of tickets are reserved daily, which can be purchased by paying at the ticket office with a credit or debit card.
Lastly, all the ticket offices have been equipped with a double code reader to minimize queues for access to the changing rooms and swimming pools.
