He has ensured that the Basque Country “advances” thanks to this “personal and collective effort” of businessmen.
Urkullu has closed the Cebek General Assembly in which the Vizcaya employers have delivered the Cebek 2023 Awards.
These awards have been received by Einnek engineering; Industrias Garita, of automotive components; the electronics company Suesa and the electricity company Iberdrola.
During the development of the act, the president of Cebek, Carolina Pérez Toledo, suffered a fall when going off stage, and although she later took the floor, she was unable to finish her speech due to feeling unwell and was transferred to a hospital.
The role of entrepreneurs
The lehendakari has recognized the role of businessmen, as has also been done by the deputy general of Bizkaia, Unai Rementería, who has taken part in the act.

Urkullu has assured that for a business to succeed, it is possible that “many others stay on the road.”
He has pointed out that it is not a matter of recognizing only those who achieve it, but also those who try and try again, “those who try to overcome difficulties and are determined to carry out their idea, their project”.
“We recognize all the people who decide to take that step, we recognize their effort, above the result of their attempt.” “We applaud the courage and risk,” Urkullu has described.
He also referred to the current economic situation and the latest economic forecasts from the Basque Government, which forecast growth of one and a half points this year and more than two points next year, and a drop in the unemployment rate to 8% in 2024.
Creation of 10,000 jobs per year
“This means that 10,000 jobs will be created every year and, for the first time, one million people can contribute to Social Security,” he added.
Urkullu has affirmed that all this is “the result of public-private collaboration” and has valued the “direct influence” of the Biscayan employers’ association “in these achievements”.
He specified that these forecasts have been made from a “prudent perspective and taking into account that the degree of uncertainty is very high” due to the doubts raised by the persistence of underlying inflation, monetary policies and the problems that the banking system is suffering. ”.
“We have to take everything into account. You have to be more vigilant than ever. We have to be prepared to act quickly, because it is about anticipating the future”, he added.
Despite these “difficulties” Urkullu has insisted that “not all are shadows” and that “uncertainty cannot condition” the steps to be taken.
“We must continue to act and respond with agility, taking advantage of the opportunities that present themselves to us”, he indicated.
Public-private collaboration
As he has said, “we must be able to continue sharing a public-private collaboration strategy and model” and “continue betting on, and supporting” entrepreneurial people, who “today have an idea, a dream” and will contribute to continue building a more advanced, cohesive and prosperous Basque society”, he concluded.
The general deputy for Bizkaia, Unai Rementeria, also had words of appreciation for the “necessary” work of the businessmen of the territory: “It is not possible to speak of a welfare state without companies and without economic activity,” he said.
“Companies generate employment and activity,” insisted Rementeria, who pointed out that the Provincial Council has asked employers and workers for “a lot of effort” in recent years and, as he told them, “you have complied with each other.”
Rementeria, who is not running for re-election in the next regional elections, has spoken at the ceremony on the occasion of the recognition that Cebek has given him for his “commitment” and “involvement” in relation to companies in Bizkaia.
Before the fall suffered, the president of Cebek has valued its fiscal policy and its initiatives to attract talent and has considered it “the best example of public-private collaboration in this country”. EFE
