Malaga, (EFE) they will be sending a message to the citizens that they are turning their backs on them”.
During a visit this Sunday to Benalmádena (Málaga), Sánchez told journalists that in Andalusia and, specifically, in Málaga, “the issue of housing is a problem” and for many people it is “a drama” before which the powers public are “obliged to respond.”
Sánchez pointed out that the Housing Law was “a pending issue” and “absolutely necessary”, given the “difficulties” in gaining access to housing.
He explained that in recent years “public housing has not been built”, which has also caused the rental market to be “stressed”, with prices that “are not affordable for most people”, and also that it has become “something impossible” for young people.
Pledge of 10,000 VPO
The law, approved in Congress on April 27, “intends to respond to these needs, creating a public housing stock that cannot be sold,” he said.
“It is a law that does not go against anyone”, insisted the minister, who has urged the autonomous communities to apply it, “also in those matters that refer to the declaration of stressed areas”.
The head of Transport has visited the Torrequebrada area accompanied by the mayor of Benalmádena, Víctor Navas, and the socialist candidate for mayor of Málaga, Daniel Pérez, and has valued housing projects such as those promoted by the latter, who he has pledged to build 10,000 VPO if elected.
During his visit, he promised to “make reality” the project for the new Nueva Torrequebrada stop in Benalmádena, corresponding to the Cercanías Málaga-Fuengirola railway line, which the mayor has claimed “for more than 9 years”.
“With the previous government we did not find anything in the drawers and there was no explicit will to carry out this project,” said Sánchez, who has expressed the “explicit” commitment of the central government with this action.
“We are going to start the work so that this project goes ahead and you can have a new halt”, announced the Minister of Transport, who added that it is “fully justified”.
Drafting of the projects
Asked about the investment and the deadlines for its implementation, Sánchez said that it is necessary to “start with the drafting of the projects” and once they are drafted it will be possible to “quantify what the necessary action is”.
On the other hand, the minister has pointed out that the Executive has invested more than 2,700 million euros in infrastructure actions in Andalusia, 400 million of them in Malaga.
After recalling the start-up of the Avant rail service between Malaga and Granada, he said that “a year from now” the improvement of the connection between Malaga and Seville is planned and on June 1 the AVLO Madrid will come into operation -Malaga. EFE
