Santiago de Compostela (A Coruña) (EFE).- The Minister Spokesperson for the Government, Isabel Rodríguez, highlighted this Saturday in Santiago de Compostela (A Coruña) the economic and health management of both the Executive and the mayors of her party, since which is “the best business card” to renew their positions in the municipal and regional elections on May 28.
Rodríguez toured the historic quarter of the Galician capital, between the Plaza del Obradoiro and the market square, in the company of the mayor of the town and candidate for re-election, Xosé Sánchez Bugallo, members of his candidacy, and the leader of the Galician Socialists, Valentín González Formoso, and the Government delegate, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro.
Once in the market, in a speech in which she did not admit questions, the minister spokesperson congratulated herself on the “magnificent news” communicated this Friday by the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding the end of covid-19 as a pandemic and has praised the “courage” and “responsibility” of the mayors in managing this “dramatic” stage.
He has also greeted the economic recovery that Spain is experiencing, “as could not have been imagined three years ago”, with “magnificent data despite the fact that some are upset”, in reference to the PP and its leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to whom he has not mentioned.
Rodríguez has indicated that the employment created also affects the “profound model change” of the Spanish economy that is being carried out, in his opinion, with the management of European funds; “A transformation so that the cities and towns of the country count”, he pointed out.
The socialist leader has stressed the need to make cities more livable, more passable and with more sustainable mobility, for which she has offered the commitment of the Executive and has highlighted measures such as “increases in the minimum interprofessional wage and pensions” to support citizens to face their problems.
In addition to these areas, the minister welcomed the agreement advanced this Friday between employers and unions to raise wages by up to 10% over the next three years, an agreement that represents “advance in social peace.”
Advancing in housing policies, “a fundamental part of the Government’s agenda in the coming years”, he said, requires the “complicity” of the mayors, especially to ensure that the center of the cities, more in the helmets historic for its tourist attraction, combine this thriving economic sector with the life of the neighbors.
