Escrivá celebrates the historical employment data for the month of April
The Minister of Inclusion and Social Security, José Luis Escrivá, has celebrated the “absolutely historic record” of employment in April, in which an average of 238,436 affiliates have joined and a new record has been set at 20.66 million affiliates to Social Security.
In statements to EFE, Escrivá highlighted that in seasonally adjusted terms, more than 420,000 new affiliates have been registered between January and April, which is the best first four-month period in the historical series and a start to the year that he has described as “fantastic”.
“In all of 2022, which was a very good year of job creation, 480,000 jobs were created. In a third of the year (2023), we have already created 420,000 jobs”, the minister has assessed.
It has influenced the fact that where employment is rising the most, with rates above 20%, is in scientific-technical activities, in innovation and in high technology.
“We continue to create quality employment”, stated Escrivá, who highlighted that “temporary employment continues to decrease increasingly”, for example among young people, where “a year and a half ago one in two had a temporary contract and today it is one in every five”.
Regarding the data from the update of the stability program sent last Friday to Brussels, which foresees the creation of 1.1 million jobs between 2023 and 2026, the minister pointed out that it is a “conservative” forecast and that “It’s being overwhelmed by data month by month.”
