Belgrade (EFE) .- Nine people have died and several have been injured in a Belgrade school when a 14-year-old boy, a student at that institution, fired this morning with a pistol against his classmates and against the teaching and security personnel.
According to a statement from the Serbian Ministry of the Interior, among the dead are eight minors and an adult, a member of the institution’s security team.
The Serbian Ministry of the Interior reported in a statement that the local police “has sent all available patrols” to the scene and has arrested the suspected minor.
According to the authorities, it is a seventh-grade student, who would have fired a gun, allegedly owned by his father, against several students and members of school security.
Close to the center of Belgrade
Local media report that numerous ambulances have traveled to the scene, as well as police with special intervention teams.
“The injured are being treated and the police are working to establish the facts and circumstances in relation to what happened,” the ministry said in a statement.
The area around the “Vladislav Ribnikar” school, near the center of Belgrade, is under lockdown while the evacuation of the students who were in the building at the time of the attack is carried out.
