València (EFE).- The Popular Party candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón (Alicante, 1974), tells EFE that he would love for the series ‘La casa de papel’ to be filmed in the Valencian Community and assures that the electoral pre-campaign is being an “unmatched” experience.
Mazón, who in the elections of May 28 makes the leap from provincial politics -he chairs the Alicante Provincial Council- to the regional one to be the PPCV candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat for the first time, faces the challenge of recovering for the populares an “electoral stronghold” that his party ruled for two decades, until 2015.
QUESTION: Define the Valencian Community in one sentence.
ANSWER: An open and dynamic land, full of opportunities if we open the stage of change.
Q: If you win and become regional president, your first step would be…
A: Lower taxes for the citizens of the Valencian Community, especially for the lowest wages, who are the ones who need it the most, abolish the death tax and launch an urgent plan for public health.
Q: Three words with which you would like to define your community at the end of your term.
A: Social, influential and competitive.
Q: What series would you like to see filmed in the Valencian Community?
A: Series like ‘El chiringuito de Pepe’ or ‘El Ministerio del tiempo’ have already been filmed… But I would love ‘La casa de papel’. It could be spectacular, and the characters with the names of cities and towns in the Region such as Elche, Alzira, Villarreal or Sagunto…, although there was already a character named Gandia.
What is clear is that the Region is a magnificent set to house any production. The recent recording of (a series from the universe) “Star Wars” in the City of Arts is an example.
Q: Is Carlos Mazón an active person on social networks? Which do you prefer?
A: Yes. I use Instagram, which allows me to communicate more directly with younger people; Facebook, to interact with thousands and thousands of people in an agile and dynamic way, and TikTok, which is the one that makes me most amused: the youth, speed, and attractiveness of the way of communicating attracts my attention.
Q: What is your favorite part of the campaign? What are you most looking forward to these weeks?
A: My favorite part is to see how the illusion for change is growing every day. It is being an unmatched experience. What I most want is contact with people, in the street. I love listening and talking to citizens to find out about the problems and solutions they pose, and this is more frequent in electoral campaigns, because we have many events and meetings in cities and towns.
