The repercussions of the war in Ukraine have become one of the main factors in hunger, especially in the world’s poorest countries, as well as the effects of the economic crises, warns the GNAFC, which has the support of the United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture (FAO), based in Rome.
Serious food difficulties worsened remarkably and in 2021 there were 193 million people who suffered from hunger in 53 countries: “It is a very worrying panorama. The prevalence of populations facing acute food insecurity at crisis levels or worse has increased for the fourth consecutive year,” explains Rein Paulsen, Director of FAO’s Office of Emergencies and Resilience.
