They are joined by a list of more than seventy intellectuals, essayists, novelists, thinkers, poets and plastic artists to complete the 224 pages of the publication with which they try to “promote and disseminate this critical and intellectual current that, from heterodoxy aesthetics, assumes the use of the word as a social obligation under the inalienable principles of commitment and ethical behavior.
This is how the editor and director of ‘Ánfora Nova’, José María Molina Caballero, has defined for EFE the monograph ‘Humanismo Solidario. The ethics of hope ‘, whose collaborations address, according to his words, some of the issues related to the ethical commitment of solidarity humanism, such as peace, justice, freedom, equality, environmentalism, feminism or the solidarity.
Nobel Prize winner Adolfo Pérez Esquivel states, under the title ‘If you want peace, prepare the word’, that “today the world lives the uncertainty and anguish of a present without a future, subjected to wars, hunger, millions of refugees that many do not they will see tomorrow, speculative and non-solidarity economies or formal democracies without values”.
The Antonio Gamoneda and Sergio Ramírez Cervantes Prize winners reflect on peace, in verse, and power, respectively, while the Princess of Asturias Emilio Lledó does so on the “eternal struggle of all against all”.
Obvious sensitivity and commitment
For José María Molina, these are “collaborations made with evident sensitivity and commitment, which take us into non-conformist approaches to the alienating paths that today’s society travels”.
Among them it also includes those of the former director general of UNESCO Federico Mayor Zaragoza, one of the usual pens of ‘Ánfora Nova’, where he published his book ‘Inventing the future’ last year; that of the president of the World Academy of Arts and Sciences and Human Security Strategy Group, Garry Jacobs; that of the Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta, and other signatures, such as those of Fernando Arrabal, Antonio Garrigues Walker, Ogarit Younan, María Novo and Carlos Blanco.
Mayor Zaragoza doubles his collaboration with a contribution to the magazine’s introductory portico and with an untitled poem from which his manuscript is published.
In Molina Caballero’s opinion, it is about “a prestigious and large group of representative authors from the national and international literary and artistic field” who forge a “relevant monographic work”, which has the collaboration of the International Association Humanism in Solidarity.
The editor writes in the epilogue of the monograph that “the guiding thread of the contents and approaches of this endearing work is hope.”
A “hope in the human being, in his ability to overcome the most abysmal obstacles that get in the way of his life, with the inexhaustible strength of his spirit and the noblest values of his human condition,” he says.
A publication in four blocks
This number of ‘Ánfora Nova’ is articulated around four large blocks that revolve around literature, pluralities and visions in the 21st century, the International Humanism in Solidarity Award ‘Erasmo de Rotterdam’ and ethical horizons through writers of solidary humanism.
The edition also collects a set of illustrations by prominent plastic artists such as Rafael Canogar (cover), Fernando Arrabal, Pedro Roldan, Francisco Escalera, Antonio Quintana, Luis M. Garcia Cruz, Marta Campos, Ana Ortiz, Larisa Sarria and Manuel Garcia Cross.
The magazine, which is published in Rute (Córdoba) and has been on the street uninterrupted for 35 years, has an international projection thanks to the incorporation in its 126 issues of works by more than five hundred writers and plastic artists from fifty countries, including Nobel, Cervantes, Princess of Asturias, National Literature and Critics Prizes, as well as unpublished contributions from several hundred authors, including Nobel Prize winners Juan Ramón Jiménez, José Saramago, Vicente Aleixandre, Rigoberta Menchú, Desmond Tutu , Adolfo Pérez Esquivel and Mikhail Gorbachev, and other firms such as Rafael Alberti, Mario Soares, Boutros Ghali, Miguel Delibes, Fernando Arrabal and Mario Benedetti.
