Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EFE).- The coach of Ran Canaria, Jaka Lakovic, has stated that his team will do “everything to win” against Turk Telekom this Wednesday in the Eurocup final, in a match that promises “very hard”.
“The rival is a very good team, very tactically rich and very physical. They play with a short rotation, somewhat similar to Bursaspor. It is about an opponent who is in the final, not by chance, but on their own merits”, the Slovenian coach pointed out at a press conference.
The coach insists that “it is an opponent of the highest level” and, for this reason, he has asked his players to play with “the maximum intensity and a lot of concentration”, in addition to the fact that they will have to “focus on the things they must do at every moment of the game and at every possession”.
“We will have to challenge ourselves to the maximum, defending one against one together and not leaving a player alone. We must help each other and do a lot of previous work. Rebounding will be a key concept tomorrow because they are good rebounders and they are athletic. Both teams have defended our defensive rebounding very well”, details Lakovic.
As for the Turkish team, the coach considers that “Bouteille is one of their most important men” but also “Taylor and Jerian Grant, who stand out on the outside, with their statistics, their game and their usage percentage in attack”.
“We have to be very careful in our defense of the outside line. They also have Yilmaz and it will be, in addition to a one-on-one challenge, also for our collective defense ”, he adds.
Lakovic stresses that his team expects “a very tough match”, in which “they will have to put their best effort” but in which “they will do everything to win it”.
Likewise, he assures that the team from Gran Canaria is “very proud to reach the final date” and is “very excited to play the game”, in which they hope to also count on the fans “who have done an incredible job getting them here”.
“Each participant in the final must feel the support of the fans and the people of the Canary Islands”, highlights the coach.
The match between Gran Canaria and Turk Telekom Ankara, corresponding to the Eurocup final, will be held this Wednesday, May 3 at 8:00 p.m. at the Gran Canaria Arena.EFE
