Oviedo (EFE).- The Ministry of Health of the Principality has announced this Tuesday that it will create an Autonomous Committee for the Coordination of Childhood and Adolescent Cancer Care to improve survival from this disease.
This is one of the four decrees reported today by the Health Council meeting under the Presidency of the Minister of Health, Pablo Fernández Muñiz, as reported by the regional government.
The committee, which will be a collegiate body for the management and coordination of care for all cases of cancer in people under 18 years of age, will have among its functions the analysis and definition of the clinical criteria for action, which include follow-up in the processes cancer, as well as the preparation and application of the corresponding protocols.
The reference unit for child and adolescent cancer care will be centralized in the Pediatric Oncohematology Unit of the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA).
This unit will have a multidisciplinary committee of pediatric oncohematology that will carry out a comprehensive approach to all patients from the physical, emotional, educational and social point of view.
All professionals involved in the diagnostic and therapeutic process will participate in this committee.
The council has also been informed about the decree by which the Health and Equity commissions and the steering commission of the Health Plan are created as collegiate bodies for monitoring the Health Plan.
It is about enabling work spaces and intersectoral coordination that make it possible to achieve the objectives.
The Health and Equity Commission is constituted as an interdepartmental and intersectoral commission with the participation of the different ministries and local administrations, with adequate representation to the heterogeneity of the municipalities and with the leadership of Health.
For its part, the Health Plan steering committee will be linked to the Health Observatory for updating priorities, monitoring actions and evaluating the goals of the plan, with special emphasis on monitoring inequalities.
