Málaga, (EFE).- Open-air summer music festivals have become a formula for success in recent years and this has led to their proliferation throughout the entire Costa del Sol, from Marbella to Nerja, passing by Fuengirola, Mijas or Torre del Mar.
The festival that has usually brought together the largest constellation of stars since its inception in 2012 is Marbella’s Starlite, which in 2022 had a total impact in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of more than 315 million euros, according to a report from the consultancy PwC presented last September.
The Starlite organization then estimated annual attendees at 362,000, spending more than 275.8 million euros, of which 66.4 million are allocated to restaurants; 63.4, to accommodation; 60.8, to transport; 45.8, to commerce, and 39.4 million, to other leisure activities.
In its 2023 program it offers unique concerts in Spain such as those of Cat Stevens, Michael Bolton and Ricky Martin, to which are added international names such as Lionel Richie, Seal, Tom Jones, Anastacia, Rod Stewart, Norah Jones, Iggy Pop, Eros Ramazzotti, Wilco, Black Eyed Peas, Juanes or Mika.
The Sohail Castle of Fuengirola
Along with them will be other national artists, including Juan Magán, Pablo López, India Martínez, Melendi, Antonio Orozco, David Bisbal, Sara Baras, Vicente Amigo, Miguel Ríos, Raphael, Lola Índigo, Víctor Manuel or Mónica Naranjo.
Fuengirola’s Sohail Castle -an 11th century fortress- and its hillside are the scenes of the Marenostrum, which this year has Robbie Williams, UB40, Alejandro Fernández, Kany García, Tini, Juan Luis Guerra, Morat, Gloria Trevi on its bill , Pablo Alborán, Nicky Jam, Manuel Turizo or Bizarrap, among others.
For its part, the Cala Mijas festival offers three days in this town with more than sixty performers, including Arcade Fire, Florence + The Machine, Siouxsie, The Strokes, Belle & Sebastian, Ethel Cain, Lil Yachty, Arca, Moderat, James Holden, Metronomy or Duki.
The Cave of Nerja
The population center of Torre del Mar, in Vélez-Málaga, will host the ninth Weekend Beach Festival, which is among the festivals with the largest audience in Spain, and which this year has programmed Maluma, Editors, Dellafuente, Mando Diao, Mala Rodríguez , Mario Díaz, Mr. Kilombo, SFDK, Fangoria, Sidecars, Kiko Veneno, Tarrus Riley or La Casa Azul, among many others.
The dean is the Nerja Cave Festival, which reaches its 62nd edition with Raphael, Miguel Poveda, Les Luthiers, María Peláe, Diana Navarro, María José Llergo, Niña Pastori, Vanesa Martín, Sara Baras and Pastora Soler, among other artists .
The Puro Latino Fest in Torremolinos will have on its stage figures such as Quevedo, Bryant Myers, Myke Towers, Gente de Zona, Sech, Morad, Eladio Carrión, Mora, RVFV, Jowell and Randy, Omar Montes, José de las Heras and Alvama Ice .
Already in Malaga, the Brisa Festival will have Chambao, Macaco, Love of Lesbian, Depedro, Carlos Sadness, Shinova, Soleá Morente, El Jose, Elefantes, Melifluo, La habitación roja and Lagartija Nick among its headliners.
Also in the capital of Malaga, the Oh, See! Malaga will offer a program led by Viva Suecia, Dorian, Iván Ferreiro, La MODA, Rayden, León Benavente, Second, La La Love You, Arde Bogotá, Rufus T. Firefly, Siloé and Nunatak. EFE
