Logroño, (EFE).- Some 1,500 people -according to the UGT and CCOO- and some 1,200 -according to the Logroño Local Police-, have participated this May Day -International Labor Day-, in the demonstration that both unions have called with reason for this anniversary, and in which there have been calls for decent wages.
“First of May. Raise wages, lower prices and distribute benefits” is the motto of the header banner of this demonstration, which started from the Glorieta del Doctor Zubía and ended at Paseo del Espolón, with interventions by the general secretaries of UGT, Jesús Left, and CCOO, Jorge Ruano.
Both union leaders are some of the faces that have carried this great banner, in which the national deputy secretary of UGT, Cristina Antoñanzas, has also been present.
The President of the Government of La Rioja, Concha Andreu, and the Mayor of Logroño, Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza, have also participated in the march.
Along with the header banner, other banners have been made visible with slogans such as “The fight for pensions, untouchable”, “For a fair agreement. Wine and alcohol industries”, “Salary 0. Conflict 0. Riojan Commerce. Essential and without agreement since 2008”.
On the tour, shouts were chanted, such as “long live the struggle of the working class”, “with this salary I can’t make ends meet” or “for a decent wage, we are here”. EFE
