Úbeda (Jaén) (EFE) concert.
As expected, what has been the second concert, within our country, of his “Against all odds” tour, has had many nods to his Úbeda and many autobiographical looks.
“When I was younger I used to travel on dirty trains going north”, was the first thing Sabina sang before more than 7,000 unconditional and dedicated fans.
At 74, the singer-songwriter has confessed that one of his obsessions has been “aging with dignity.” “If the heart does not accompany me, I burn my ships”, he has emphasized before giving way to “Sentiendo lo mucho”, another of his favorite songs.
Sabina did not take long to greet her relatives who accompanied her at this concert, the many Sabineros from Úbeda and also the mayoress of this municipality, Toñi Olivares, to whom she has said that she owes her relationship with Úbeda in recent years. .
The concert has lasted for just over two hours. But before the first hour Sabina has taken a short break to make way for Mara Barros and Antonio García de Diego, who have interpreted some of her most classic songs.
The second part has been dedicated to his most classic songs, with “Princess” as the song most chanted by the thousands of people who have packed the fairgrounds.
This new tour started on February 25 in Costa Rica and, after touring Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay, it landed in Spain on April 20 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The name of this tour is not accidental. On February 12, 2020, when Sabina turned 71, she suffered a spectacular fall at the Wizink Center in Madrid at her concert with her friend Joan Manuel Serrat on their joint tour “No hay dos sin tres”.
After losing his footing at the edge of the stage due to a cable and the light of a spotlight, he fell into the pit from almost two meters high, resulting in several injuries, a hospital admission to the ICU and an operation to remove a small clot.
Then the pandemic would arrive and a confinement that Sabina had to follow more rigorously due to her delicate health. “What I like the most are gatherings smoking, drinking and laughing with friends and I thought that this was not going to be possible anymore”, acknowledged the artist from Úbeda in the presentation of the documentary “Sentiendo lo mucho” directed by his friend Fernando León de Aranoa .
Precisely, Sabina himself would confess shortly after that it was that documentary that once again motivated him to compose new songs, such as “Sentiendo lo mucho” that he signed with Leiva, awarded a Goya for best original song.
That theme should be the central axis of his next album, the release date of which is still unknown after rejecting the initial idea of releasing it last Christmas.
