Santiago de Compostela, April 27 (EFE).- The Xunta approved this Thursday the Prevention and Defense Plan against Forest Fires in Galicia (Pladiga) for this year, which will have 7,000 troops and a budget of 39 million euros, 15% more than last year.
This was explained by the president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, in his appearance after the weekly meeting of the Galician Government, in which the go-ahead was given to this plan “more in advance than in previous years”, he highlighted.
Apart from this advance in its approval, this plan includes other innovations such as the creation of a multidisciplinary team specialized in large fires, as well as the incorporation of three new heli-transported brigades, 15 new motorized pumps and 12 amphibious vehicles.
Other measures are reinforcing the training and prevention plan, with an economic endowment that reaches up to 700,000 euros, and the fixed surveillance cameras in 76 points are extended to 153.
In addition, the number of parishes considered to have high incendiary activity increases from 35 to 40 and new technologies and devices for extinction will be included in the plan, with the possibility of real-time vision, and an application to manage the external machinery that is contracted .
The objective is to “reduce as much as possible the harmful consequences of all types of fires”, Rueda has assured, for which there is a prevention program, another for detection, as well as extinction and another for training.
