Vitoria (EFE).- A police dog from the Ertzaintza Canine Unit has managed to recover the loot from a robbery perpetrated by two young people in the Álava town of Amurrio. The suspects took a briefcase with documentation and a considerable amount of money from a car.
Izar, which is the name of the German shepherd from the Ertzaintza, specialized in the detection of paper money, managed to find the money that the thieves had hidden inside the bathroom cabinet of a house.
As reported by the Basque Department of Security on Thursday, the events occurred early Wednesday morning, when the Basque Police learned that a robbery had occurred in a vehicle parked in Amurrio.

The thieves had stolen from inside the car a briefcase containing various documentation and “several thousand euros” apparently coming from the collection of a business, in addition to other belongings, Efe Seguridad has specified.
An investigation was immediately launched by agents from the Llodio police station until two 18-year-old youths were identified as allegedly involved in the robbery.
They located the suspects in a building in this town and, according to the inquiries of the agents, one of them was carrying a small part of the stolen money at that time.
But since they were not willing to collaborate, the presence of the Ertzaintza Canine Unit was requested. The search was successful since the dog Izar, in the company of the ertzaina guide, after inspecting the dependencies of the house, was able to find the loot from the robbery, a wallet with most of the stolen money, which was hidden in a bathroom closet. .
The rest of the stolen merchandise was in the vicinity of the house where these two young people were, for which both were arrested and today they will be made available at the Amurrio Guard Court.
