Madrid, (EFE).- WhatsApp has announced on Tuesday an improvement in the multi-device function, introducing the possibility that a user can log in with the same account on several mobile phones.
Until now, this option could be carried out with the WhatsApp Web version, tablets and desktop applications, but not on several smartphones at the same time.
This is a much-requested feature from users, WhatsApp points out on its blog: “Now you can link your phone with up to three additional devices, the same way you link WhatsApp on web browsers, tablets and desktop computers.”
Four devices maximum
The maximum will always be four devices, but now users will be able to choose between two, three or four mobiles.
“Starting today, you can log in to the same WhatsApp account on up to four phones,” summarizes Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Meta, on his Facebook page.
Depending on the messaging network, each linked phone connects to WhatsApp independently, ensuring that your personal messages, media, and calls are end-to-end encrypted.
Also, if the primary device is inactive for an extended period of time, all linked devices are automatically logged out.
“With the pairing of phones it is easier to send and receive messages. Now you can switch phones without logging out and pick up your chats where you left off. Or if you are a small business owner, now other employees can respond to customers directly from their phones with the same WhatsApp Business account.”
Available in the coming weeks
This update has started rolling out to users around the world and will be available to everyone over the next few weeks.
The messaging network will also introduce an alternative and more accessible way to link devices in the coming weeks.
“Now you can enter your phone number on WhatsApp Web to receive a unique code that you can use on your phone to activate device pairing, instead of having to scan a QR code. We hope to include this feature for more paired devices in the future.”
