In addition, it is also “the time to start the process of fiscal consolidation, which allows the reduction of fiscal imbalances”, he added at a conference, in Logroño, in which he addressed current economic events, and which was organized by the Marketing Club from La Rioja.
“We are in a macroeconomic environment -he said- in which our (Spanish) economy is showing greater resilience; inflation continues to be high and, therefore, it is also necessary to reduce these fiscal imbalances”.
He has also said that “we have the European funds to try to offset the potential negative effects that the start of the fiscal consolidation process could have on economic growth.”
And all this, he assured, “makes us think that in 2023, in the case of the Spanish economy, there should be a reduction in the structural deficit.”
Hernández de Cos has also affirmed that the messages for the Spanish economy in terms of inflation are similar to those of the euro zone, due to the fact that underlying inflation and food prices continue to be high.
He has also defended an income pact in Spain, which allows the loss of real income caused by the increase in energy prices to be distributed. EFE
