The numbers of Sant Jordi
The Book Chamber of Catalonia, made up of the associations and associations of publishers, booksellers, distributors and graphic communication in Catalonia, believes that this Sant Jordi has been “the most participatory and the one that has made the most sales in history, with growth of more than 5%.
In the absence of disclosing the final figures once the global sale has been computed, which includes all the booths, the Book Chamber of Catalonia positively values the implementation of the model of spaces for professionals, where stalls are set up for bookstores and florists.
“The model applied in cities such as Barcelona contributes to making bookstores visible, to ordering people traffic and is one of the factors of success this year, which is why it is committed to the model continuing”, added the Chamber of Book.
best selling authors
Sáenz de Urturi, Planeta 2020 award winner and which was already among the best sellers last year, already showed “good vibes” due to the rate of signatures that it has accumulated during the day.
In statements to EFE, the winner in Catalan Gemma Ruiz, upon learning of the list of the best-selling books of the day, pointed out that “this day we all win” and stressed that the titles that appear only account for 5% of the total sales. during the day.
In his opinion, the most remarkable thing about Sant Jordi is that “today is a day for all writers, regardless of whether they are on the list or not. We all win ”, he added.
Bosch, another of the regulars on the best-seller lists in Sant Jordi, has told EFE, after a “spectacular” Sunday in which he has not stopped signing, that being on this list is a “thank you” and an emotion “big” towards its many readers and this means that readers “trust your stories and want to know the characters you create”.
