Ibiza, June 13 (EFE).- The Civil Guard has arrested today the acting mayor of the Sant Josep Ibiza Town Hall, also a Town Planning councilor, Ángel Luis Guerrero, during a search at the Town Planning offices of the municipal headquarters.
A lawyer from the consistory and a private lawyer were also arrested, in the framework of the operation carried out this Tuesday and which included searches in law firms on the island.
The cause, which is instructing the Investigating Court number 3 of Ibiza, is under summary secrecy.
The agents arrived this Tuesday morning at the municipal offices and evacuated from the facilities the officials and citizens who were inside, preventing from that moment the entry of anyone outside the operation.
Throughout the morning the acting mayor Ángel Luis Guerrero and Urban Planning officials remained inside, collaborating with the requests of the agents, who have downloaded files and have carried out the search, apparently together with a court clerk.
At around 2:00 p.m., almost all the Urban Planning workers left the municipal headquarters and the mayor of Sant Josep, the secretary of the Consistory and the municipal lawyer remained inside.
Late this Tuesday, the Sant Jose City Council defended “diligent” and “transparent” urban management in the face of the search operation that has been carried out since early in the morning in the municipal Department of Urban Planning.
From the Consistory they have assured, through a statement, that the acting mayor, Ángel Luis Guerrero, has been “all day” collaborating with a “judicial investigation” that seeks to “clarify certain indications that affect him”, without going into detail. what they are when they are under summary secrecy.
The mayor will be detained tonight Tuesday at the Sant Antoni Civil Guard barracks after the search operation carried out by the Civil Guard throughout the day.
The lawyer for the defense of the mayor, José María Costa, has indicated that Guerrero is “concerned” and “want to collaborate” in the case, of which he has not given any information, noting that it was under summary secrecy.
The lawyer has pointed out that he has asked the acting mayor for “tranquility” so that this Wednesday he tries to make it available or “see what alternatives we have”, he said.
Costa has also not clarified the crimes for which Guerrero is accused, but has indicated that they have made “available all the information that has been possible and is within reach,” he added.
The mayor’s defense has qualified that he has not seen any file related to the “legal classification” of the crimes he is accused of. Although he has been present at the searches, Costa has said that he does not know what the Civil Guard was looking for. “They search and do not tell, it is normal and I respect it as an investigation,” he stated.
Regarding the arrest of the mayor, the lawyer is confident that tomorrow, Wednesday, the process will continue and “we will see results”, referring to the lifting of the summary secrecy.
