Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife) (EFE).- The PSOE candidate for re-election as president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has asked citizens to think about whether on May 28 they consolidate the political changes “or we go back”, and has challenged other formations “to show their faces” for what they “did not do” when they governed.
In statements to the media before the presentation this Saturday of the PSOE’s candidacies for the Parliament, Cabildo and town halls of Tenerife, Ángel Víctor Torres stressed that four years ago political change took place in the Canary Islands with the return of his party to the Presidency after 26 years.
This change also occurred in the Cabildo and “many municipalities” of Tenerife and for this reason, it has continued, in front of “others who say what they are going to do without giving an account of what they did and did not do, the PSOE will give an account of what has been done” in these four years.
And as a summary, Ángel Víctor Torres has detailed how together with the president of the Cabildo and also a candidate for re-election, Pedro Martín, he has visited the works of the Erjos tunnel, in the insular Ring, “in front of those who presented infographics” and today the hospital of the south “is a reality” compared to “those who say they would do it”.
For this reason, he has encouraged other political forces “not to say what they are going to do, but to show the face of what they did because now some say that in 90 days they will solve mobility problems, and they have solved it the Government of Spain together with that of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo”.
It is what “they could have solved in the 26 years that they governed the Canary Islands”, he affirmed in reference to the Canary Islands Coalition that, in what they are “absolute masters is in saying that Madrid mistreats us”.
“Is it mistreatment to give scholarships, increase pensions, funds against sexist violence, remove homes from Sareb for families with the greatest needs, the Minimum Vital Income? Precisely those who mistreated the canaries are the ones who say that the Government mistreats this land”, Torres questioned.
The socialist leader has also pointed out that nobody knows what the future will bring but he wants to convey to the Canaries that May 28, the day of local and regional elections, represents “the unique, democratic, free opportunity” for which those who lost their lives, “that we could go vote, a unique gesture every four years.”
Likewise, the president has shown himself willing to try to face any adversity that the future brings “hoping that they be as few as possible, logically” while encouraging the canaries “to take the Canary Islands from four years ago, see what we have Today, compare and draw your conclusions.
For his part, the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Héctor Gómez, has indicated that the contact between the Spanish Government and the Canary Islands is permanent because there is “a sensitivity and a permanent concern to cover the needs and demands” of the archipelago “that have been attended these four years without the need for scandals and unnecessary fights that do not contribute anything more than confusion to the citizenry”.
This is possible because with the PSOE it has been shown that “there is another way of governing far from confrontation and conflict, highly oriented towards solving problems” and now Spain is a benchmark in Europe for energy and economic policy, in addition to measures to offset the effects of inflation.
Also in the Canary Islands, its president, Ángel Víctor Torres, represents a way of doing politics “of progress, seeking agreement and consensus” that has made the islands a benchmark in the national group, for which reason he has encouraged to continue promoting this growth. to position the archipelago as the “spearhead of Europe”.
