Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EFE).- Hidramar Gran Canaria has given the first blow this Saturday in the final of the Iberdrola League by beating Tenerife Libby’s La Laguna 3-1, in which it has been a match that serves as omen of the equality that will be lived in this fight for the title of the highest category of national volleyball.
The Tenerife team began by taking a very even first set in which both teams managed to get ahead on the scoreboard although, after taking turns in superiority, two points in a row from Wolowicz and Arredondo put a two-point advantage (18-20) thus unbalancing the first game towards the blue and white side (23-25).
The second set had a similar event and that is that after a few moments of local dominance (14-10), Tenerife came back and turned the score around in what was an attempt to win the set (18-20) but the Dias-Vilvert duo had an exceptional 7-2 run that led to 1-1.
Hidramar caught the slipstream and began the third game with very good feelings, planting an initial run of 11-4 that the team led by Juan Diego García was unable to cut.
It was the moment of maximum inequality of the match since the yellow advantage continued to expand until 25-17, which placed the duel at 2-1-
Tenerife Libby’s tried to return the coin quickly with a 1-4 run, but the matter did not take long to adjust and the tie lasted until 15-15, at which time Olímpico took a slight lead (18-16).
However, the luminous returned to the draw (20-20) taking the game to a final stretch in which the visiting team had up to two chances to force the fifth set (25-26), although the points of Manzano and Dias settled the first contest with the final 28-26.
In less than 24 hours, the two teams meet again at the Insular Sports Center of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to decide the second match of this final in which Hidramar Gran Canaria has already taken the first step.
