Ciudad Real (EFE).- The University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) has received a favorable report from the National Agency for Quality Assessment (Aneca) for the implementation of degrees in Psychology and Physics, which are added to those of Mathematics and Biomedical Engineering recently approved, and with which the expansion of the academic offer for the next academic year is completed.
The approval of the autonomous body attached to the Ministry of Universities is essential for a university degree to obtain academic recognition in Spain.
Therefore, the achievement of these last four favorable reports supposes the materialization of the work carried out by the regional University to expand the list of degrees offered.
Physics in Toledo, Psychology in Albacete, Biomedical Engineering in Cuenca and Mathematics in Ciudad Real
In this way, from next September the degrees of Psychology will be included, in the Campus of Albacete; Mathematics, in Ciudad Real; Biomedical Engineering, in Cuenca; and Physics, in Toledo, the UCLM reported this Friday in a press release.
Attached to the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Biochemistry of Toledo, the degree in Physics is considered as a general degree with a significant amount of basic training in all branches of physics and with detailed specific knowledge of climate change and advanced materials.
The training offered in the degree is oriented towards direct incorporation into the regional and national productive fabric, the educational sector and an initiation orientation to research to enter postgraduate programs and later the completion of a doctorate.
Regarding Psychology, dependent on the Faculty of Medicine of Albacete, it presents a study plan designed to train versatile and competent professionals with a solid base of knowledge and skills about the discipline and a teaching approach similar to that used in the Medicine degree.
It includes the problem-based learning (PBL) methodology, the intensification of practical and laboratory activities, as well as the use of competency tests related to psychological assessment and intervention.
The most innovative feature of this degree is that they have two mandatory internships in the last years in the social/educational field and in the health field that will complement the training of students in a real work environment.
The rector affirms that it is “very exciting” news
After knowing the favorable report of the ANECA, the rector of the UCLM, José Julián Garde, who this Friday has participated in the act of the 25th anniversary of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Cuenca, has asserted that it is “very exciting” news ” and has confirmed that these new studies will begin to be taught in the next academic year.
Therefore, students will be able to pre-register after the EBAU tests this summer.
Garde has detailed that each new degree will offer fifty places and has been convinced that all will be covered since they are degrees in high demand by students and with high employability.
Satisfaction in the regional government
For her part, the Minister of Education, Culture and Sports, Rosa Ana Rodríguez, in statements to the media at the Book Fair in Albacete, has indicated that the regional government is “very satisfied” that these qualifications are a reality from the next course.
“This is going to help, surely, so that our students do not leave Castilla-La Mancha,” he asserted.
