Madrid/Washington, (EFE).- The President of the United States, Joe Biden, will receive the head of government, Pedro Sánchez, at the White House on Friday, May 12, both the White House and Moncloa announced this Wednesday.
The spokeswoman for the White House, Karine Jean-Pierre, has informed when announcing the meeting (which will be held the day that the campaign for the municipal and regional elections will begin in Spain on May 28) that the situation of the war in Ukraine and will address how to strengthen the bilateral relationship.
For its part, Moncloa has stressed that it will deepen the existing relationship between two “friends, partners and allies” countries.
He has also reported that Biden and Sánchez will reaffirm their commitment to the transatlantic link and with firm support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.
They will also address the interest of both parties in strengthening their cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean, and how to jointly face global challenges such as the climate emergency and the defense of democracy and an international order based on rules.
In the same way, Sánchez will transfer to the US president the priorities of the semi-annual presidency of the Council of the EU, which Spain will assume on July 1.
In the bilateral field, the President of the Government and the President of the United States will review the already existing cooperation in numerous areas, as befits, Moncloa stresses, the density and breadth of relations between the two countries.
