Madrid (EFE).- The former executive president of the “old” Pescanova or Pescanova SA Manuel Fernández de Sousa has entered prison this Tuesday to serve the six-year sentence imposed on him last February by the Supreme Court, as confirmed to Efe prison sources.
The Supreme Court sentenced Fernández de Sousa to six years in prison as the perpetrator of a continuous crime of falsehood in the annual accounts, falsification of economic-financial information and seizure of assets, after years of judicial litigation for the “Pescanova case”.
The former president of the fishing company filed an appeal for clarification against said sentence to delay his entry into prison, but in March the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court dismissed it.
From the sentence, Fernández de Sousa should serve 4 years and 6 months in prison for the continued crime of falsifying the annual accounts, in relation to medial bankruptcy with a crime, also continued, of falsifying economic-financial information; and one year and six months for the removal of assets.

The Supreme Court sentence also sentenced him to indemnify, together with the company, more than 125 million euros to the injured investors, in a judicial opinion that fully or partially upheld the appeals filed previously against another resolution issued, in turn, by the National Court as well. within the “Pescanova case”.
The Pescanova group filed for bankruptcy in 2013 and two years later it was decided to split into two: the Nueva inherited the productive activity, based in Chapela-Redondela (Pontevedra), while the “old” is a company of portfolio listed on the Stock Exchange but without productive activity.
