Rueda, who arrived in Venezuela today as part of the Latin American route that began last Wednesday in Panama and will end in Mexico, stressed the importance of appearing at the headquarters of the Galician Brotherhood, in Caracas, to “reinforce” the commitment of the Together with his countrymen.
“Here Galician culture is taught, our elders are taken care of (…) therefore, coming here to reinforce that commitment of the Xunta de Galicia is to say that of course we will continue to help them, we will continue to thank that Galicia abroad very much”, he told the media and the public after signing the entity’s guest book.
The regional president toured the Galician Brotherhood and shared with children who recited poems and recounted their progress in Galician classes, as well as with the elderly from the day center, a care space for the elderly, in which the hosts sang and they danced native Galician sonatas.
Accompanied by the Secretary General of Galician Emigration, Antonio Rodríguez Miranda, and by the president of the Galician Brotherhood of Venezuela, María Noemí Cendón, Rueda greeted those who were in this space and heard anecdotes from those who came to welcome him to the country. .
The politician assured that the Galician Brotherhood, which has 30,000 members, is a “powerful” space in which “Galicia throbs”.
“I love that it is known in Galicia that there are institutions like this throughout the world that maintain these links, they integrated perfectly into the countries that welcomed them, but they never forgot where they came from,” he said.
For his part, Cendón celebrated the president’s visit and assured that his presence “reflects the appreciation that the Xunta de Galicia has maintained all these years towards Galicians abroad”.
“We, not only the Galician entities, but the Galician people who are in this country and in others infinitely value everything they do for us, not only in the contributions they give us, but in keeping us linked to what is the Galicia of today,” he said.
Rueda is expected to travel to Mexico City tomorrow, Friday, after fulfilling his schedule in Caracas.
