Pamplona (EFE).- The Osasuna player Darko Brasanac suffers a torn cruciate ligament and external meniscus, for which the Serbian footballer says goodbye for the remainder of the season and the beginning of the next.
The midfielder was injured against Elche and the worst was feared. The omens have come true after the tests carried out at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra, the club has reported.
Next Monday, April 17, the player will undergo surgery at the CUN. The recovery time is usually around 6-7 months out, so he will not wear shorts in the Copa del Rey final on May 6 against Real Madrid.
Four seasons in Osasuna
The midfielder signed for Osasuna in the summer of promotion (2019), four seasons ago. His participation has gone from less to more, but the Berriatúa coach has continued to use his pupil on numerous occasions, always receiving a great set-up from the former Betis player.
After renewing his relationship with Osasuna until June 2023 in January 2021, doubts about a new signing began to grow. The injury has made the club think about rewarding the Balkan for all the commitment shown over the years.
After the setback suffered against Elche, he has received innumerable expressions of affection from players on the squad and from the fans, who have asked for his continuity for one more season. In the coming weeks, the decision of the board of directors regarding this matter will be known. It would be a gesture that would raise the status of “different from the rest” that the Navarrese entity has in Spanish football.
More than 1,000 minutes in the League
Darko has been until this Sunday one of the theoretical substitutes who had played the most minutes, having a leading role in 25 of the 28 days accumulated to date in the domestic championship. In the league he added 1,035 minutes, with a goal against Valencia. In the Copa del Rey he has played all the qualifiers.
Therefore, Arrasate loses one of its first changes. The coach’s confidence in him has been clear. A week ago in San Mamés he came out in the second half to get the team out of his goal. He had good minutes and won the title in the last day of the league at El Sadar.
This loss will give Pablo Ibáñez greater responsibility. His goal against Athletic, which qualified Osasuna for the Copa del Rey final, has changed his status. His talent and daily effort have been rewarded by Arrasate, with more minutes, and by the fans, with public recognition.
