Las Palmas De Gran Canaria (EFE) govern the islands after the elections on May 28.
This was confirmed by the former president of the Canary Islands in the political forum of Editorial Prensa Ibérica, in which he exposed the measures of the executive program that CC undertakes to apply “in the first hundred days of government to change the Canary Islands”.
Asked about the electoral expectations of his candidacy, Clavijo stressed that, after four years in opposition, the CC now has 1,500 more members than when it governed and has been more loyal to the Executive headed by Ángel Víctor Torres than some of the partners of the so-called Pact of Flowers that support it, and that, in addition to the PSOE, is made up of NC, Podemos and ASG.
For Clavijo, after 28M the important thing is that CC govern, he has stressed.
“We want to govern, if possible alone, although it is very difficult. We don’t like this government and we present ourselves as an alternative. What we do say is that we will not agree with Vox or Podemos. We will agree with the rest, not to fire anyone, as was done with us, but on the basis of a government program ”, he assured.
Fernando Clavijo has insisted that the important thing is that CC govern, but “the Presidency of the Canary Islands is not an objective of the party or mine.”
Regarding the results to be obtained in Gran Canaria, he said that on this occasion it will not be possible to double the votes, as happened in 2019 compared to those of 2015, although he has predicted that his party on this island will have “frankly good results, with a growth higher than that of the Canary Islands as a whole”, to which the push that the independent mayors will give will contribute.
In the archipelago as a whole, Clavijo has predicted that CC will win in six of the eight islands and will govern in other places with stability agreements.
Asked about the alleged unity of nationalism and its relationship with NC, Fernando Clavijo has said that this continues to be a desire of CC, which he sees as complicated by “the personalism” of Román Rodríguez and has opted, in any case, for a unification ” bottom up”. EFE
