Tarifa (Cádiz), (EFE).- The forest fire that broke out last Wednesday in Tarifa (Cádiz) is now under control and close to being extinguished, thanks to the work carried out by Infoca.
Infoca sources have informed EFE that there are no more flames, just some smoke, although 42 troops continue to work on the ground with two trucks and a heavy ‘Kamov’ helicopter.
The aerial means have managed to control the fire in steep areas and the fire will soon be considered controlled, a step prior to being extinguished because it is already contained within the existing perimeter.
The difficult orography has complicated the work of extinction and also the east wind, with an average of between 45 and 50 kilometers per hour, although this Saturday the gusts were not as strong as in the previous days.
Neighbors affected by the Tarifa fire in their homes
The evicted families have already been able to return to their homes after Level 0 was established by the Andalusian Forest Fire Extinction Operational Service (Infoca).
Yesterday, the 70 residents evicted from their homes by the fire that broke out in the San Bartolomé mountain range, in Tarifa (Cádiz), can now return to their homes, once the fire stabilizes.
After attending a meeting to coordinate the means of fighting this fire at the advanced command post installed in the area, the Minister of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification, Antonio Sanz, reported that the fire had “a favorable evolution” during the night, so it can be considered “stabilized” and its alert level has dropped from 1 to 0.
