Santander, April 5 (EFE).- The third day of searching for the sailor who disappeared in the sinking of the fishing boat Vilaboa Uno off the coast of Santander, which has cost the lives of two of its crew, will resume this Wednesday with a robot marine to take pictures of the ship, where Walter Ferreira is believed to be.
The search device was interrupted at nightfall on Tuesday, a day in which the deployment of all maritime and air means continued and the work with divers from the Special Group of Underwater Activities of the Civil Guard (GEAS) was reinforced.
The fishing boat is sunk at a depth of 120 meters, which makes rescue work difficult and makes it impossible, for the moment, for Civil Guard divers to access it to check if the Peruvian sailor is inside.
To do this, this Wednesday they will have a remote-controlled underwater vehicle to analyze the situation in the area of the shipwreck.
The Helimer 202, the Salvamar Deneb, the María de Maeztu tugboat, fishing boats that are in the area of the shipwreck, the patrol boat and the helicopter of the Civil Guard, and that of the Government of Cantabria are working on the search.
The Vilaboa Uno sank at dawn this past Monday with ten crew members, seven of whom were rescued by boats that were in the area, after notifying the Maritime Rescue that it had a leak in the hull and was sinking.
The shipwreck has claimed the life of a Santander sailor and another from Ghana due to hypothermia.
One of the seven rescued crew members was also seriously injured due to hypothermia, who was transferred to the Valdecilla Hospital and was discharged that same Monday. The other six fishermen received psychological care.
