Moscow, (EFE).- Russian President Vladimir Putin lamented today the “deep crisis” in relations between Russia and the United States, whose origin would be in the discrepancies between the two powers on the new world order.
“Relations between Russia and the United States, on which global security and stability directly depend, are unfortunately experiencing a deep crisis,” Putin said during a ceremony to present the credentials of about twenty foreign ambassadors in the Grand Kremlin Palace.
Addressing the new US ambassador, Lynne Tracy, he assured that the reason for this crisis is “the different positions” that both countries maintain “on the formation of the new world order”.
During a live television intervention, Putin criticized Washington for resorting to “instruments” such as “color revolutions” in its foreign policy.
In this regard, he stressed that the White House’s support for the Euromaidan revolution in Kiev (2014) “finally led to the current Ukrainian crisis”, in addition to becoming “a negative factor in the degradation of Russian-American relations”.
“We have always advocated relations based exclusively on the principles of equality, respect for sovereignty and mutual interests, and non-interference in the internal affairs of the other country. We will continue to be guided by those principles in the future,” he stated.
The new ambassador in Moscow
Tracy, who arrived in Moscow at the end of January, has already been summoned to the Foreign Ministry on a couple of occasions, among other things, due to interference in Russia’s internal affairs and the greater involvement of the United States in the conflict in Ukraine. by supplying Kiev with heavy weapons.
In this regard, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Riabkov, assured today that Russia and the US have already “passed by” the Cold War and are now going through a stage of a hybrid “hot war”.
In turn, Putin also received on Wednesday the credentials of the ambassador of the European Union, the Frenchman Roland Galharague.
Blame Europe
“Relations between that bloc and Russia, unfortunately for us, have deteriorated considerably in recent years,” he said.
He blamed Brussels for this, for giving up its “initial function and mission” of promoting European integration and economic cooperation, in favor of “geopolitical antagonism with Russia.”
However, he expressed his confidence that both parties will overcome this stage and “leave behind” the elements that have a negative impact on their relations for the good of the economy of Russia and the member countries of the EU.
“We hope that with the passage of time the logic of mutual cooperation will prevail,” he said.
Both the United States and the countries of the European Union have approved various sanctions packages against the Kremlin for its military intervention in Ukraine in February 2022.
