Seville, (EFE).- The Ministry of Health and Consumption of Andalusia expands the olive oil brands investigated for alleged fraud since March 10 in coordination with Seprona and the authorities of the Junta de Extremadura.
The Ministry has reported that the brands investigated are being expanded after complaints from individuals “due to deficiencies in smell and taste in oils of some brands” and has indicated that actions have been carried out by the Ministry’s inspection services, in collaboration with the Seprona of the Civil Guard.
To date “no danger that poses a health risk has been identified, beyond quality problems or alleged fraud with these products that are being investigated,” says the Health Department of the Junta de Andalucía.
Investigation that starts in Extremadura
The brands investigated are the following: Acebuche, Galiaceite 2022, Vareado, Don Jaén, La Campiña de Andalucía, El Convento de Oro, Virgen del Guadiana, Cortijo del Oro, La Abadía, Villa de Jerez, Imperio Andaluz, La Esmeralda, Los Milagros , Almazara Fernández, Gold of Andalusia, Hermanos Domínguez Salas and G (Adolfo García SL).
The Ministry asks citizens who have some of these brands in their possession to refrain from consuming it and contact the place of purchase to return it.
This investigation arises from the fact that on March 10 the General Directorate of Public Health of the Extremadura Health Service decreed a food alert for mislabeled oil from Andalusian companies, which so far has immobilized more than 20,000 liters of oil from thirteen brands . EFE
