“April 2, 23 hours on the dot. Legally we have taken Bakhmut. The commanders of the units that seized the administration and the central neighborhood will now raise those flags (the Russian one and that of the paramilitary group),” Prigozhin said in a video released by his press service.
He added that the Russian flag carries a message in memory of Vladlen Tatarski, a Russian blogger and war correspondent killed on Sunday in a bomb attack in St. Petersburg that also injured about 30 people.
However, according to Prigozhin, the enemy still remains in the western quarter of the town, which has become the epicenter of fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces for months.
The intensity of the fighting in Bakhmut changes very dynamically and depends, above all, on the supply of ammunition, a source from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) previously assured, while acknowledging the difficulty of the situation.
Also the president of Ukraine, Volodímir Zelenski, said in his usual nightly message that the situation has been “especially tense” this Sunday in Bakhmut.
