Barcelona (EFE).- Espanyol made official this Monday with a statement the dismissal of Diego Martínez as coach of the first team after the bad results of the squad, after the agreement reached between all parties.
The Catalan team is immersed in the worst run of the season with four straight defeats -Valladolid (2-1), Real Madrid (3-1), Celta de Vigo (1-3) and Girona (2-1)- and the blue and white entity has considered that a change in the bench was necessary.
Espanyol pointed out in its text that the results are what has led the entity to make this decision. The club also did not hide that the team’s fight is now to achieve “continuity in the category.”
Diego Martínez arrived at the Catalan entity in May 2022 after the dismissal of Vicente Moreno as head of the team. During his time as a blue and white, the coach has won six, drawn nine and twelve lost.
In the statement, Espanyol thanked Diego Martínez for his professionalism during these months at the club and wishes him the best personal and professional success in the future.
