Lugo, Mar 30 (EFE) hours of this Thursday, and the works for its extinction continue to be complicated by the wind and its changing direction.
This fire, which originated last Tuesday at five o’clock in the afternoon, began in Cubilledo and caused real moments of tension due to its proximity to several inhabited nuclei and the impossibility of using aerial means to put it out due to the strong gusts.
The Xunta maintains situation two decreed, a preventive measure due to proximity to the houses, specifically those located in Fórneas. On Wednesday, at least four villages were evicted as a precaution, although some residents were able to return to their homes last night without causing any damage.
The Montaña fire was joined by three other fires in as many municipalities in the province of Lugo. Extinguishing agents from the Xunta de Galicia work to put out a fire that remains active in the parish of Vieiro, in the municipality of Viveiro, in A Mariña, Lugo. It has burned 80 hectares and has been stabilized since 10:44 p.m.
Although it came to be relatively close to some houses and even two elderly people were evicted from their homes as a precaution, sources from the Ministry indicated that the flames did not pose any risk to any population center.
Of course, the strong wind that has been blowing prevented the air resources from acting and displaced the smoke towards the town of Viveiro itself.
In addition, two other active forest fires remain active in the municipality of Taboada, in the parish of Xián -8 hectares burned-, and in Alfoz, in Lagoa (90 hectares).
In the province of Ourense, the fires in Entrimo-Venceáns (14 hectares affecting the Xurés park) and Viana do Bolo (70) have been put out. The first was extinguished after half past one in the morning and the second at 11:42 p.m., according to the balance.
