Madrid (EFE).- The Episcopal Conference (CEE) has received in 2022 a total of 186 new “testimonies” related to sexual abuse committed within the Church since 1950, of which 70 have been communicated in diocesan offices and 116 in religious congregations, bringing the total number of cases collected by this institution to 692.
This was announced this Thursday by the Secretary General of the Episcopal Conference (CEE), César García Magán, at the press conference after the organization’s Permanent Commission was held, in which he detailed that yesterday they held a meeting with the president of the CEE, Juan José Omella and the Ombudsman, Ángel Gabilondo, to whom they delivered a report “with all the information that the Church has.”
This is the report called “To give light”, six volumes of more than 2,000 pages that collect information from the different child protection offices of the dioceses and religious congregations and that is in line with the collaboration with the Ombudsman ” as a sign of the commitment of ecclesial institutions in the fight against the social scourge of abuses”.
